What about the police? Can civil law enforcement solve the problem?

An adult forcing a minor into anything sexual is a criminal act in addition to being a serious sin. It’s not something private; it’s a matter for the criminal justice system. Churchmen should call the police on sex criminals, without hesitation–even sex criminals who are brother clergymen. We Christians always hope that a guilty brother or sister will repent and seek forgiveness from God. But churchmen also need to co-operate humbly with investigations conducted by civil authorities, with criminal prosecution as a possible outcome.
